Job description

Are you a recent graduate or a senior-year student in a creative field?This Jr. Production Designer role is your opportunity to launch a career in design and production while making a meaningful impact. At Blakely, you’ll do more than support design projects. Your work will contribute to meaningful causes, helping our not-for-profit clients connect with their audiences and achieve their missions.

As a Jr. Production Designer, you’ll work on the preparation and delivery of print and digital materials for integrated campaigns. From file setup to final upload, you’ll ensure everything is technically accurate and aligned with brand and accessibility standards.

You’ll report to the Manager of Design & Production and collaborate with a passionate team of Art Directors, Account Managers, and fellow designers to execute campaigns that are visually consistent, strategically sound, and flawlessly produced.

Must haves

  • Post-secondary education in the creative arts/design field (Arts, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), Microsoft Office suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook), Figma, and a bunch of other programs you may never use – but you’re that good!
  • Strong production skills, leveraging the above programs to produce technically accurate files for both digital and print production output, on par with best practice and the latest industry standards
  • Understanding of digital production standards (i.e., accessibility standards, social media & Google ad specs, email best practices, mobile first understanding, files sizes and formats, resolution, etc.)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously, leveraging exceptional organizational skills to manage competing deadlines and maintain quality deliverables in fast-paced environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt to evolving project requirements
  • A positive attitude paired with excellent teamwork abilities, capable of collaborating effectively across various departments in a remote working environment
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

Nice to Haves

  • 1–2 years’ practical working experience is not required but a welcomed bonus
  • A history of working with not-for-profit clients is also considered a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Work with diverse not-for-profit clients ranging from health to social and environmental causes
  • Format and revise content across a wide range of mediums, including digital (display ads, social media assets, HTML emails, responsive landing pages) and print (direct mail packages, newsletters, inserts, and marketing collateral)
  • Build and upload technically accurate digital & print production files, pre-flight, QC and final delivery to developers, digital media vendors and printers, all while keeping design and branding guidelines in mind
  • Collaborate with team members throughout the agency
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Maintain and archive files

Salary Range: The starting salary range for this position is based on an annual salary of $40,000 – $45,000 commensurate with experience, prorated for the length of the contract. The contract position starts June 15 th , 2025, and concludes on September 30 th , 2025.

Location: This is a location-flexible, work-from-home position for individuals residing in Ontario, or within 2 hours of EST. Maintaining a good working relationship is key to success, so we gather our entire team together 3 – 4 times a year in Aurora, ON. There will be department meetings or 1 on 1 meetings with your manager in person required throughout the year. For those that live 150KMs or more away from Aurora, ON we cover all travel expenses in line with Blakely’s travel policy. In addition, if you are in a client facing role, there will be in person client meetings required, dependent on the client and Blakely needs, with reimbursement for travel based on Blakely’s travel policy.
