Job summary

WSP is hiring a Junior Mechanical Designer for its Global Mining team in Ontario. You will design 3D models and piping layouts, create P&IDs, and support early-stage and detailed engineering with field verification from mining sites.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, gain field experience, and grow your technical capability while contributing to safer, smarter mining projects across local and global markets.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher in Mechanical Engineering Design or related discipline.
  • 0–5 years in mechanical design; mining exposure is a plus.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Plant3D for industrial design.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, AutoPLANT, Civil3D, and MS Office is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping layouts and plant design.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Create P&IDs, isometrics, process flow diagrams, and supporting design documentation.
  • Support feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects with high-quality deliverables.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Diploma or higher education in Mechanical Engineering Design or a related discipline.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with mining industry exposure considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Plant3D for industrial facility and piping design.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, AutoPLANT, Civil3D, and Microsoft Office considered an asset.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, piping layouts, and industrial plant design principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project environments and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project and client sites as required.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $29.50 - $39.10
MB & ON: $26.90 - $37.10
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $26.60 - $35.40
