The ideal candidate will be an organized, independently driven, and highly detail-orientated individual. They should enjoy working in fast paced environments and be willing and able to push themselves and others to meet individual and collective goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, coordinating and checking the design of other professionals, specifying and procuring equipment and managing and coordinating fabrication and construction activities.

Please Note: This role requires travel to our Langley Head office and occassional travel to Jobsites across the lower mainland BC, a valid license and reliable vehicle are required due to unavailable transit services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports, layouts and fabrication drawings.
  • Challenge designs of other professionals and devise innovative, cost saving alternatives.
  • Review design drawings, identifying errors and mitigating risks.
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs, cost estimates and schedules.
  • Write technical specifications and contract terms and conditions.
  • Request quotes and procure equipment and materials on time and under budget.
  • Manage and coordinate work with other technical and field staff.
  • Submit, organize and maintain project documentation (RFI, CCO, CO, shop drawings, etc.).
  • Ensure that all construction and installation is performed in accordance with company and contractual standards of quality.
  • Complete site inspections and prepare as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and testing reports.
  • Provide a safe work environment through continuous training and development.
  • Progress into role of Project Manager over time.
  • Demonstrate accountability, adaptability and analytical thinking.
  • Operate with honesty, integrity and respect.

Qualifications

  • Degree in civil, or environmental engineering (new graduates will be asked to submit transcripts, should they be short listed).
  • Registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC as an EIT or Professional Engineer, or the ability to be registered immediately.
  • Experience working in the construction industry is required.
  • AutoCAD experience is required.
  • Experience in water and wastewater process engineering is an asset.
  • Knowledge of environmental and drinking water standards and building codes is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of civil and structural engineering, HVAC, electrical, instrumentation and controls is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized and motivated to carry out a variety of duties.
  • Aptitude to problem solve and think “outside the box”.
  • Highly detail oriented.
  • Willing to learn on and off the job.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (our Langley office is not accessible via public transit and some travel may be required)
