Job Description: BIM Coordinator - Junior

Imagine playing a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada’s busiest public transit system while working for a consistently ranked Top Employer with a global reach. As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly transforming the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project. We are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope includes new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signaling, telecommunications, digital systems, maintenance, and more.

Objectives

  • Coordinate design models internally and externally.
  • Review incoming and outgoing information to ensure proper exchange per the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Validate and gather input from other disciplines and share with subsystems for design production.
  • Ensure all models comply with project BIM execution plan requirements.
  • Create specific models in Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit.

Responsibilities

  • Assess civil inputs for quality and usability; provide these for subsystem design development.
  • Create Dynamo scripts to enhance modeling processes.
  • Ensure subsystem BIM models adhere to BIM Execution Plan standards.
  • Coordinate between subsystems and civil partners.
  • Assist in coordination meetings with subsystems and civil partners.
  • Help create and maintain the federated model, including subsystem and civil partner models.
  • Ensure proper use and updates of BIM guidelines throughout the design process.
  • Follow the schedule set by the System BIM Manager and Project Engineering Manager.
  • Assist in preparing baseline data and sharing it with project teams.
  • Participate in process and 'Metier' improvement workgroups, proposing updates to tools and processes.
  • Report anomalies and propose improvements or evolutions.

Performance Metrics

  • Maintain an updated list of BIM models and their statuses.
  • Contribute to best practices within BIM and design teams.
  • Report on design development and clash management to relevant managers.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering or equivalent.
  • BIM and/or AutoCAD Certification.
  • Experience with Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and GIS.
  • At least 3 years of BIM coordination experience on complex projects.
