Role Details

Employment Type: This is a 3-6 month fixed-term employment contract role (part‑time or full‑time depending on candidate availability). Based on the project needs and other various factors, there is possibility for extension.

Hours: 10-30 hours / week if part-time. Up to 37.5 hours / week if full-time.

Work Location: Toronto, ON – Remote-First

Compensation: $25-32 per hour

Reports to: Chief Information / Technology Officer

Your Role

At Metrix, we’re currently working through our process to enhance our overall business strategy and the offerings we provide to our clients. At this time, we’re looking for a Junior AI Developer to assist us in building out our AI workflows to bring our vision of our new strategy to life. As our Junior AI Developer, you’ll be working closely with our AI Workstream team to understand what has been built out so far and what is possible for our AI workflows based on the overall vision.

You will have demonstrated problem-solving skills, an aptitude for navigating ambiguity, and a positive attitude. You are passionate about AI and love to bring new and exciting ideas to life.

You will share and champion our values and represent Metrix in the community.

What You’ll be Doing

• Build and evaluate agentic AI workflows using LangChain and LlamaIndex.
• Implement RAG pipelines (document loaders, chunking, embeddings, vector DBs, retrieval evals).
• Create small services / integrations in Python (and / or TypeScript) that connect models, tools, and data.
• Automate processes and demos via Microsoft Copilot Studio and n8n where helpful.
• Write clean code, tests, and lightweight docs; contribute to experiment logs and retros.
• Follow privacy / compliance guardrails for life‑sciences content (PII minimization, prompt logging hygiene).

Your Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated with) a Computer Science / Software Engineering program
• Comfortable with Python (or TypeScript) fundamentals, APIs, and Git.
• Basic Understanding of LLMs and RAGs
• Tech-savvy and willing to learn new technologies in relation to AI & XR (Experience / skills with the following programs an asset: React, Microsoft CoPilot Studio, Azure OpenAI / Open AI, Anthropic)
• Critical thinking and research skills: able to identify what you don’t know and learn it!
