NAV CANADA invites a Surveillance System Engineering student to contribute to the development and refactoring of radar surveillance software. You will work within a SAFe-aligned team on new features, maintenance, and toolchain improvements, with emphasis on code quality and collaboration.

The role provides practical experience in programming, software testing, and system deployment within a hybrid work arrangement at NAV CANADA’s Ottawa facilities.

Qualifications

  • Strong programming fundamentals across languages (C/C++/Python/JS) and OS concepts.
  • Ability to analyze and test software and systems.
  • Graduate student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • System Hardware installation, setup and testing.
  • Create test plans, procedures and scripts.

Job Summary

As a member of the Surveillance System Engineering Team; the Surveillance Engineering Student will be involved in new and ongoing development and engineering support of Air Traffic Control surveillance systems. You will have a diverse set of responsibilities which can include develop/enhance software, data analysis, system and software testing. In this work term, the primary task for the student will be able to work individually and within a Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) Team on refactoring our Radar Software.

We are a private company that operates mission critical systems that are fundamental to the safe and efficient service that manage 12 million aircraft movements a year. As a member of the Surveillance System Engineering Team; the Surveillance Engineering Student will be involved in new and ongoing development and engineering support of Air Traffic Control surveillance systems. You will have a diverse set of responsibilities which can include develop/enhance software, data analysis, system and software testing. In this work term, the primary task for the student will be the ability to work individually and within a modified Agile Team on developing and refactoring our surveillance maintenance and toolchain software.

Work Location and Conditions

This is a hybrid role with onsite work minimum of 3 days a week at the Ottawa Technical System Centre (TSC) – 280 Hunt Club Road
