Job summary

J&P Auto in south Edmonton is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Service Technician to join our professional team. You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment and systems; document work; and ensure customer satisfaction through timely service delivery.

Reporting to the Garage Manager, this role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, teamwork, and staying organized in a fast-paced automotive environment. Competitive base salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a Journeyman/Woman Service Technician role

Responsibilities

  • Provide vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs.
  • Install new and added-on equipment.
  • Conduct first-, second-, and third-line repairs and modifications on vehicles.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to municipal equipment to ensure the equipment is available, reliable, and safe to operate.
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues.
  • Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Accurately complete work orders and timecards.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
  • Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Perform other mechanical repairs as required.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Perform in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor and act on general maintenance, cleaning of shop and equipment, and keeping a safe and orderly shop area.

J&P Auto is seeking an experienced, motivated Journeyperson Service Technician to join our professional team in south Edmonton.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an established automotive group, where clear communication, quality service, and the customer experience matter. You will play an essential role in delivering a seamless service journey from repair to vehicle pickup.

About the Role

As a Journeyperson Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment and systems; responding to service requests; documenting completed work; and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely, professional service delivery. You’ll work closely with the Service Advisor to explain service requirements and timelines to keep each appointment running smoothly.

Reporting to the Garage Manager, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and staying organized in a fast-paced automotive environment.

What You’ll Do
