Job summary

Western Materials Handling & Equipment Ltd. (WestMat) is seeking a Journeyperson Field Service Technician to service forklifts and related warehouse equipment across Alberta from Calgary.

You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance in a safe, supportive environment, with in-house and manufacturer training and a company service vehicle. You will travel to customer sites, communicate repair timelines, manage parts in the service van, and provide top-quality service while

Qualifications

• Journeyperson certification in Heavy Duty Mechanics or Automotive Mechanics (or equivalent experience).
• Experience working on forklifts or similar equipment is an asset.
• Basic electrical knowledge for diagnosing and repairing equipment.
• Problem-solving mindset – You enjoy diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues.
• Valid, non-GDL (full, unrestricted) driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs. regularly and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, bending, and climbing.
• Commitment to safety, quality work, and great customer service.
• Available for occasional on call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair propane, diesel, and electric forklifts, pallet trucks, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other warehouse equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and identify further repairs.
• Travel to customer locations with a fully equipped company service vehicle.
• Communicate directly with customers about repair needs and timelines.
• Manage parts inventory in your service van and track vehicle maintenance.
