Journeyperson Electrician

Kamloops, BC $43.35/hour

Dawson Construction is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Journeyperson Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on industrial and commercial equipment.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Construction, working in a temporary, full-time position of Journeyperson Electrician, reporting to the Superintendent, Mechanical. The ideal candidate will have experience working with motors, control panels, wiring, and automation systems to ensure the equipment operates safely and efficiently. Your base location will be Knutsford, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on industrial and commercial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in control panels, motors, and wiring.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
  • Work with PLCs, motor controls, and automation systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve equipment performance.

What You Bring

  • Licensed electrician or relevant certification.
  • Class B FSR Certification is an asset.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance and repair of industrial or commercial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and automation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
