Job description

Buffalo Catering Employees LP is looking to fill a Journeyperson Cook position at our lodge near Fort McMurray, AB. The successful candidate will prepare a variety of foods, manage inventory and grocery orders, and ensure high-quality food service. Responsibilities include meal preparation, inventory management, administrative tasks, safety compliance, and teamwork. Cooks must work efficiently and courteously with clients and staff, handle special requests, and maintain smooth operations on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the First Cook by preparing and cooking menu items according to established specifications.
  2. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning lists.
  3. Keep food storage areas organized and clean.
  4. Maintain food quality, safety, and service standards daily.
  5. Follow safety policies and procedures, including Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
  6. Assist in training and educating culinary staff, including apprentices.
  7. Perform other assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of culinary experience in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Experience with high-volume baking, inventory, and grocery ordering is an asset.
  • Albertarecognized Journeyman Cook Certification is required.
  • Valid National or Alberta-recognized Food Safe Certificate prior to employment.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Proven leadership skills and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and unionized environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work a 20/10 rotation.
