Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray-based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of companies, operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP began in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group, serving the Energy and Mining Industries across North America. Since then, it has grown from 30 experienced team members to over 400, with more than 300 pieces of heavy equipment. We proudly operate alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture.
The Role
We are seeking a full-time Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician to work at our Fort McMurray, Alberta shop. The ideal candidate is local, with 5+ years of dealership experience working on Ford, Chevy, and Dodge vehicles. The candidate should be hardworking, self-motivated, and reliable. This role reports to the Light Duty Fleet Superintendent.
Location/Job Details
- Fort McMurray Shop
- Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with overtime and weekend work as required.
- Flexible start and end times (7:00 - 9:00 am to 3:30 - 5:30 pm).
- Fast-paced, busy environment.
- Repetitive bending and lifting up to 50 pounds required.
- Travel may be required to repair or boost equipment in various weather conditions.
- Shop equipped with Snap-on scanner.
- Own tools required.
Compensation/Benefits
- $45.00 to $50.00 per hour plus overtime at 1.5x rate (bi-weekly pay).
- Overtime after 8 hours/day.
- $2.00/hour increase after 90 days, pending performance review.
- $2.00/hour bonus from day one, paid quarterly, contingent on safety and conduct.
- 9.6% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all hours, paid bi-weekly.

Responsibilities/Job Duties
- Diagnose and repair automotive fleet equipment, primarily Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.
- Complete detailed service reports after each shift.
- Decode and repair OBD2 fault codes.
- Determine warranty scope of repairs.
- Source parts and coordinate with the Parts Department.
- Install equipment modifications (e.g., slip tanks, warning beacons).
- Conduct oil sampling and complete necessary documentation.
- Maintain thorough daily documentation, including inspections and timesheets.
- Follow all safety practices and procedures.
- Report incidents, hazards, and damages immediately.
- Participate in toolbox talks and meetings.
Education/Qualifications/Training
- 5+ years in a similar dealership role preferred.
- Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification required.
- Experience with Ford, Chevy, and Dodge repairs necessary.
- Proficient in English, both verbal and written.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol test clearance required.
- Basic tools (up to 1-1/4” wrenches, socket sets, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, punches).
- WHMIS 2015 certification (can be obtained through ACSA).
- Comfortable with electronic devices and adaptable to new technologies.
