Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray-based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of companies, operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP started in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group, serving the Energy and Mining Industries across North America. Since then, KCLP has grown from 30 to over 400 team members and owns more than 300 pieces of heavy equipment. We are proud to operate alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture.
The Role
We are seeking a full-time Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician based in our Fort McMurray shop. The ideal candidate is local, with over 5 years of dealership experience working on Ford, Chevy, and Dodge vehicles. The candidate should be hardworking, self-motivated, and reliable. This position reports to the Light Duty Fleet Superintendent.
Location/Job Details
- Fort McMurray Shop
- Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with overtime and weekend work as needed
- Flexible start and end times (7:00 - 9:00 am to 3:30 - 5:30 pm)
- Fast-paced, busy environment
- Repetitive bending and lifting up to 50 pounds required
- Travel may be required in various weather conditions for equipment repairs or upgrades
- Shop equipped with Snap-on scanner
- Own tools required
Compensation/Benefits
- $45.00 to $50.00 per hour plus overtime at 1.5x rate (bi-weekly pay)
- Overtime after 8 hours per day
- $2.00/hour increase after 90 days, contingent on performance review
- $2.00/hour bonus from day one, paid quarterly, contingent on safety and conduct standards

Responsibilities/Job Duties
- Diagnose and repair automotive fleet equipment (50% Ford, 25% Chevy, 25% Dodge)
- Complete detailed service and repair reports
- Retrieve, decode, and repair OBD2 fault codes
- Determine warranty coverage and repair scope
- Source parts and coordinate with Parts Department
- Install equipment modifications (e.g., slip tanks, warning beacons, floodlights)
- Take oil samples and complete documentation
- Maintain thorough daily documentation (e.g., FLHAs, timesheets, inspections)
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards or incidents
- Participate in toolbox talks and meetings
Education/Qualifications/Training
- 5+ years in a similar dealership role preferred
- Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification required
- Experience with Ford, Chevy, and Dodge repairs necessary
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a good driving record
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol test clearance required
- Basic tools up to 1-1/4” wrenches and socket sets, plus hand tools
- WHMIS 2015 certification (can be obtained for free through ACSA)
- Ability to use electronic devices and adapt to new technologies
