Job Title : Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter
Location : British Columbia
Salary : Starting from CAD45 per hr, depending on experience and qualifications
Reporting to the Foreman and/or Site Lead, Journeymen Sprinkler Fitters lay out, install, repair, modify, inspect, test, and maintain sprinkler systems. Duties include reading and interpreting engineered drawings, installing hangers and clamps to support the piping system, preparing the pipe, joining pipe using various methods, and installing associated equipment, in compliance with applicable codes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in tool setup, take-down, and maintenance of the work area.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Follow design specifications to select the appropriate size of pipe and required materials.
- Install overhead sprinkler systems, hose systems, fire mains, underground systems, etc., in accordance with building and fire codes.
- Operate power tools and machinery including pipe threaders, pipe cutters, groovers, and core drills.
- Measure, mark, fit, and prepare pipes.
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, etc.
- Install clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping and sprinkler systems.
- Install valves, alarms, controls, and associated equipment.
- Mentor other team members, including apprentices and entry-level sprinkler fitters.
- Understand the basic hydraulics of the sprinkler system for each job.
- Interpret Building Codes and Standards for sprinkler systems, standpipe, and hydrants.
- Understand fabrication sheets.
- Submit applicable forms and reports as per company policy.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must have in-depth knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, and 10.
- Red-Seal Certification as a Sprinkler Fitter.
- Obtained or plans to obtain the BlazeMaster Certification.
- Comfortable reading blueprints and schematics.
- Valid BC Driver’s License with a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Ability to use hand tools and demonstrate good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and properly.
Physical Demands
- Ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing and moving for extended periods.
- Bending, lifting, pushing, crouching.
