Job summary

Bidell Gas Compression is seeking a Journeyman Shift Mechanic based in Fort St. John, BC, for a rotational camp role. On-site work includes installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas engines and compressors at client locations.

The ideal candidate has a Journeyman credential, CAT and Waukesha VHP experience, and strong customer service skills. A clean Class 5 license is required and travel/on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright certification or equivalently recognized credentials.
• Excellent knowledge of natural gas engines, compressors, pumps and air compressors.
• Experience with CAT and Waukesha VHP engines is preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for client interaction.
• Willingness to work 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation and on-call duties.
• Must hold a clean Class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of engines and compressors.
• Perform routine diagnostics and repairs to ensure reliable client equipment performance.
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members about status and needs.
• Participate in on-call rotation and adhere to company policies.
• Stay organized, motivated and responsive to project timelines.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Journeyman Shift Mechanic based out of Fort St John, BC in a rotational camp mechanic position to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing on-site technical support, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of natural gas engines and compressors at our client’s location. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Including but are not limited to the following)

• Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright


• 2 weeks on and 2 off shift


• Have excellent knowledge of natural gas engines, compressors, pumps and air compressors


• Cat and Waukesha VHP experienced required.


• Be motivated and well organized.


• Have strong customer service and communication skills.


• Be flexible with time scheduling to meet customer needs.


• Willing to comply with all company policies.


• Have a clean class 5 driver’s license.


• Available to participate in the on-call rotation

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with Waukesha and Caterpillar engines and Recip. compressors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances and in small areas with many moving pieces/parts.
