Job summary

OCL Group Inc. is seeking experienced Night Shift Journeyman Pipefitters for a 14/14 FIFO rotation at Kearl Oil Sands in Alberta. Flights are provided from Edmonton or Calgary with provincial flight allowances. This is a fly-in/fly-out role with strong safety and project standards.

You will read blueprints, install and repair piping systems, mentor Apprentices, and ensure work meets OCL standards and regulations. Valid OSSA, CSTS-2020, WHMIS and other safety tickets are required.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Pipefitter Certification is required.
  • Experience in an industrial construction environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install valves, pipes, fittings.
  • Install valves, pumps, fittings, supports and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems as required.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Mentor Apprentice Pipefitters.
  • Comply with safety policies and site procedures.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for experienced Night Shift Journeyman Pipefitters to join our team on a 14/14 rotation at Kearl Oil Sands. This is a fly in / fly out role with flights provided from either Edmonton or Calgary with flight allowances based in on the province located.

Compensation/Benefits

  • 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings
  • OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Read, interpret and work from blueprints, isometric drawings and specifications
  • Expertly measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass valves, pipes, fittings
  • Install valves, pumps, fittings, supports and control systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems as required
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with OCL standards, industry codes and applicable regulations
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Apprentice Pipefitters
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area
  • Comply with all company, client and site-specific safety policies and procedures
Skills/Qualifications/Education
  • Journeyperson Pipefitter Certification
  • Previous experience in an industrial construction environment
  • Valid safety tickets (OSSA, CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Protection, AWP, Confined Space)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with cranes and rigging-pick out the appropriate size weight ratings
  • Physically capable of performing job duties including but not limited to: bending, lifting and working in various weather conditions
  • Ensure a safe team environment
  • Adhere to all company and worksite safety and quality processes and procedures
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
