Job description

The role of a Millwright in industries such as manufacturing and production is crucial for maintaining and enhancing operational efficiency. A Millwright, also known as an industrial mechanic, specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. This role is pivotal as it ensures the smooth running of machines which are essential for the production processes.

JOURNEYMAN MILLWRIGHT (433A)

We are currently recruiting for 5 MILLWRIGHTS for our Thunder Bay, ON client.

Our client is a world-leading, fully integrated agriculture network that connects producers and consumers to supply sustainable, traceable, and quality-controlled agriculture products. Within North America, they are a leading marketer and handler of grains, oilseeds, pulses, and cotton and take great pride in partnering with growers to connect them to markets in 60+ countries.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

As a Millwright you are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair and troubleshooting of stationary grain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Complete regular preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment according to established schedules, codes and procedures.

Troubleshoot, fabricate, repair and install mechanical equipment / parts in accordance with established procedures.

Provide assistance to other Maintenance and Electrical team members when required.

Operate in accordance with health, safety and fire prevention regulations and practices.

Perform proper alignments within industry set standards.

Use plasma cutting tool and welding equipment.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Ability to read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Experience with conveyor, material handling equipment, grain handled and processing equipment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and quality of work initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of welding (TIG, MIG, ARC, Plasma, Torch), rigging (proper hand signals, load balancing) and mobile equipment operation.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an industrial setting or comparable service work in the industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial, elevator and cleaning systems.
  • Must be a certified Journeyman with Trades Qualification or Interprovincial certification under the Red Seal Program.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.

WORK CONDITIONS :

  • Schedule : Weekly rotation of day shifts and evening shifts. Monday to Friday. Day shift is 8 AM to 4 PM and evening shift is 4 PM to 12 AM
  • A comprehensive benefits program including extended health care, dental, vision care, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term disability, and long term disability commencing after 90 working days.

  • Monday to Friday work schedule.
