Job description

Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, Inc. is looking to fill the position of Millwright at Kimberley Alpine Resort. The Millwright is a key member of the Maintenance Department, working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and working closely with the Lift Operators, Vehicle Maintenance and Facility Maintenance teams.

Role Summary

This role exhibits knowledge and experience of trade skills and can work in diverse situations such as facilities, seasonal lift shutdowns and the implementation of special capital projects. The Millwright has a working knowledge of lift maintenance and ski hill operations. This role must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment keeping the safety of the crew and resort guests a foremost priority. This is a full-time, year-round role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical or hydraulic problems with associated equipment.
  2. Identify and correct problems found in machines, equipment or processes to facilitate production.
  3. Adhere to assembly and maintenance instructions set forth in vendor manuals and specifications.
  4. Actively involved in preventative and required maintenance of all lifts and lift maintenance equipment.
  5. Maintain records of work and report on all lift maintenance related activities.
  6. Assist with training Lift Operators to safely operate the lifts and perform routine checks.
  7. Operate company equipment safely and effectively in accordance with company policies.
  8. Assist other departments with general maintenance needs when required.
  9. Ensure ongoing compliance with local and national standards and legislation including the Z-98 code and Manufacturer’s specifications.
  10. Keep work area safe and clean and report any damage, malfunction, misuse or abuse of any equipment or property.
  11. Ensure safety of guests and employees through proper training and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  12. Assistance with vehicle maintenance as required.
  13. Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
  14. Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Certified Journeyman Millwright, with an inter provincial ticket.
  2. Previous experience of 2-4 years would be an asset.
  3. Must hold a current, valid drivers license.
  4. Proficient ski or snowboard capabilities.
  5. Proficient with MS Office and other basic computer systems and applications.
  6. Candidate owns all the required tools to perform job adequately.
  7. Must be physically capable of operating and maintaining equipment.
  8. Comfortable working at heights.
  9. First aid experience an asset.
Conditions
  1. Work 10 hour days, set days of the week.
  2. Working holidays, weekends and evenings can be expected.
  3. Full time scheduled to work a minimum of 80 hours per 2 week pay period during busy times.
