Blackstone is looking for a Journeyman Machinist to join our shop team, supporting the precision manufacturing, repair, and refurbishment of mechanical components used in rotating equipment. This role involves machining parts to tight tolerances using manual and CNC equipment, interpreting technical drawings, and performing accurate measurements and inspections. The successful candidate will bring strong attention to detail, solid problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality in a shop-based environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area while completing all required documentation for assigned tasks
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual and CNC machining equipment
  • Machine, modify, and repair components to specified tolerances and finishes
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to determine machining processes
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Adhere to and promote a safe work environment for yourself and co-workers
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, measurements taken, and inspections completed
  • Work effectively within a team environment and independently when required
  • Remain flexible to meet changing priorities and urgent work requirements to support business needs
  • Complete all company-required documentation in a timely manner as directed by your supervisor or other leaders
  • Support the business through collaboration, professionalism, and positive contribution to the work environment
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Journeyman Machinist ticket with 5+ years of experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Experience with precision machining, component repair, and refurbishment
  • Proficient with manual and/or CNC lathes, mills, and related shop equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience machining components for rotating equipment such as shafts, sleeves, bushings, and housings is an asset
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
  • Ability to document measurements, tolerances, and inspection results
  • Motivated, well organized, punctual, honest, and willing to learn
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible with scheduling to meet business and customer needs; overtime may be required
  • Comply with all company policies, safety, quality, and performance standards
  • Have a valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Overhead Crane, Rigging Safety, Forklift, Zoom Boom, First Aid, and SCBA certifications are considered assets
