Job summary

TalentCompass has partnered with an established energy-sector equipment manufacturer to recruit experienced Journeyperson Machinists for its modern facility in Blackfalds, Alberta. We are currently seeking 2-3 skilled machinists to join the company’s night-shift team.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Machinist Certificate required.
  • Four years of machining experience preferred.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders and technical specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using appropriate measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Conduct and document required quality inspections throughout the machining process.
  • Confirm that workpieces meet dimensional requirements before advancing them to the next stage of production.
  • Complete work orders and associated production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Perform or support required preventive-maintenance inspections on machining equipment.
  • Identify machining, quality or equipment concerns and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Lead, mentor and assist operators, machinists and apprentices as required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Follow all company procedures, quality standards, safety requirements and workplace policies.
  • Contribute positively to the team and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, clients and other staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor.

  • Complete scheduled machining and production work safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders and technical specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using appropriate measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Conduct and document required quality inspections throughout the machining process.
  • Confirm that workpieces meet dimensional requirements before advancing them to the next stage of production.
  • Complete work orders and associated production and quality documentation accurately.

Candidates with experience operating large horizontal mills are strongly encouraged to apply.

Shift Schedule
  • Monday through Thursday
  • 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
  • Four 10-hour shifts with paid breaks
  • Three consecutive days off
  • Optional overtime available on weekends

Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Machinist Certificate required
  • Four years of machining experience preferred
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work orders
  • Demonstrated understanding of machining tolerances, dimensional verification and quality-control procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Knowledge of coiled-tubing and wireline products and terminology is considered an asset
  • Grade 12 education is preferred
