Job description

O’Hanlon Paving , a proud member of The Fath Group,has been a key player in the Edmonton road construction industry for over 65 years. We are currently looking for a Journeyperson Parts Technician / Purchaser to work in a full-time capacity, in our Mechanical Shop based in Acheson, AB. This position is responsible for handling the complete procurement process including sourcing suppliers, requesting quotations, issuing purchase orders, tracking shipments, follow-ups, and invoice resolution. The successful candidate must be able to align with the company's core values : Commitment, Attitude and Respect.

Responsibilities :

The primary responsibilities of this position are :

  • Supporting the business through research, sourcing products, services, and suppliers as well as making appropriate recommendations that provide best value;
  • Working closely with the mechanical division to identify and supply various (on-road & off-road) construction related equipment maintenance and repair parts, tools and supplies;
  • Creating and managing purchase orders for parts, inventory, materials, and services on the internal CMMS system;
  • Developing new vendor relationships and strengthening existing ones;
  • Monitoring supplier performance by tracking, expediting, and performing periodic quality and compliance audits;
  • Interpreting, researching, sourcing and sharing product knowledge along with technical and service information;
  • Ensuring all relevant documentation is submitted to Accounts Payable as well as working with that team to identify, research, and resolve invoicing issues.
  • Developing and maintaining an electronic tracking system where all supporting documentation can be accessed easily by all personnel.

Qualifications :

  • Journeyperson Parts Technician certification is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years related industry experience is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience and general knowledge of construction, industrial or mechanical parts purchasing are required.
  • Experience using an ERP system would be an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving skills are highly desirable.
  • Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and time management skills are required in this position.
  • Experience with inventory control and materials management is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical parts, catalogues, distributors, and vendors is highly desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment is required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift will be an asset.
