Job summary

Quantum Controls Ltd. in Drayton Valley is seeking a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician experienced in Oil & Gas to join our E&I team on local projects and site work across Western Alberta.

You will perform maintenance, calibration, and installation of instrumentation, work with HART devices, and support safety and reliability on live processes, with flexible schedules including overtime.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Instrumentation Ticket required.
  • Location in Drayton Valley area.
  • Class 5 license with clean driver abstract mandatory.
  • H2S, First Aid, CSO tickets required.
  • Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform tickets are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Safety, quality, and customer service focus.
  • Flexible schedule with shift work, overtime, and weekend availability.
  • Perform maintenance, replacement, and installation of instrumentation equipment.
  • Calibrations and installations requiring tubing.
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment and specialty tools.
  • Calibrate with instrumentation test equipment, including advanced devices like HART communicators.
  • Manage meters, pressure/temperature readings, and control systems aboard equipment.
  • Work on systems like compressor panels, RTUs, BMS, line heaters and production facilities.
  • Work with pneumatically and electronically controlled instruments.
  • Test accuracy of flow meters, gauges, indicators and controllers.
  • Calibrate, repair, and maintain system components on new or existing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Gas Detection and Fire Detection sensors.
  • Set set points on safety shutdown devices and calibrate unattended when needed.
  • Work around live processes with proper isolation and de-pressuring.

Job description

Quantum Controls Ltd. Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I). is a subsidiary of Newforce Energy Services LTD.

Quantum Controls is looking for a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician who is experienced in the Oil & Gas industry to join our E&I team based out of Drayton Valley for local projects as well as site projects located in Western Alberta.

Qualifications
  • Must be in the Drayton Valley area to be considered
  • Journeyman Instrumentation Ticket
  • A valid Class 5 license with a clean driver abstract
  • Valid H2S, First Aid, CSO, mandatory safety tickets
  • Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, safety tickets are an asset.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry in construction or maintenance is an asset
  • Ability to work in various working conditions ranging from outdoors to indoors in a variety of weather conditions and working from heights
Responsibilities

  • Use of basic instrumentation test equipment with the ability to calibrate
  • Use of more advanced calibration equipment such as HART communicators and programs.
  • Able to work on or with more advanced meter(s) checking for continuity, resistance, voltages & current readings
  • Able to work on or with more advanced systems such as compressor panels, RTU’s, BMS, Line heaters, and production facility equipment
  • Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, and composition.
  • Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gages, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments.
  • Calibrate, repair, maintain and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Gas Detection, LEL Detection and Fire Detection controllers and sensors.
  • Capable of setting set points on safety shutdown device(s) & should be able to complete calibrations unattended in most situations.
  • Working on or around any ‘live’ process or equipment, including isolation and de-pressuring of any system.
