Job summary

Convergint is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician with overhead crane experience to join our Fort McMurray, AB team. You will perform routine maintenance, repair wiring and equipment, and complete scheduled and break-in work orders under supervision.

The role requires at least five years as a Journeyperson in a commercial setting, strong problem solving and safety compliance, and the ability to travel to sites and coordinate with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Electrician ticket required.
• Minimum five years of commercial electrical experience.
• 10,000 hours of overhead crane experience.
• Valid and clean driver’s license.
• Travel to and on jobsites is required.
• Ability to read and understand building floor plans and design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Install and test electrical systems per regulations and safety policies.
• Execute installations in accordance with codes and company health and safety policies.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and fix problems with testing equipment and hand tools.
• Coordinate with supervisor and colleagues and respond to maintenance notifications.
• Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards and ensure compliance with codes.

Convergint is currently recruiting for a team-oriented Journeyperson Electrician with overhead crane experience to join our team in Fort McMurray, AB (Suncor). As the Journeyperson Electrician, your work will consist of completing daily scheduled and break-in work orders, minor work notifications and minor maintenance of building facilities. The job duties for the Electrician include completing routine maintenance, perform planned inspections, co-ordinate with other colleagues, and perform work as directed by Supervisor.

• This will be a rotating shift (14/14) with local accommodations provided for the duration of your shift.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Executes all installations in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems.
• Advise supervisor on whether continued operation of equipment or working conditions could be hazardous.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Complete work orders and minor work request on a daily basis.
• Respond to maintenance notifications in a courteous and timely manner.
• Identify problems and provide the service within defined timelines.
• Provide information to close service request and record comments for future reference.
• Respond to emergency requirements; must carry a cellular, or two-way radio.

What You’ll Need

• Valid and clean driver’s license.
• Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
• Travel to and on jobsites is required. Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of all aspects of building operations and maintenance.
• Strong ability to effectively identify and solve building related problems.
• Ability to read and understand building floor plans and design drawings.
• Strong ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal direction.
• Demonstrate flexibility responding to emergencies and rapidly changing needs.
• Strong understanding of OHS regulations and procedures.

Experience Requirements

• Journeyperson Electrician ticket.
• Minimum of five years as a Journeyperson with commercial based electrical experience.
• 10,000 hours of overhead crane experience
• Overhead door experience an asset
• Rope access certificate an asset
• Understanding of electrical systems, products, service, and design; knowledge of construction industry and familiarity with local and national electrical codes is required.
