Job description

The Automated Tray Pack Electrician will act as a lead hand, responsible for overseeing the daily operations and output of the automated tray pack line, including adjusting the machinery to optimal settings to maximize production efficiency. The Automated Tray Pack Electrician will report directly to the Packaging Supervisor or to the Shift Manage on duty, this role will also involve close collaboration with both Maintenance and Tray Pack personnel to ensure seamless operation and support of the automated system.

Qualifications
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician ticket/certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical assembly, machine repair, and the maintenance of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as PLC-based control systems used in process equipment.
  • Ability to use power tools and hand tools related to electrical work.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shift.
  • Proficient in interpreting and working with schematic and technical drawings.
  • Background in Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation, or PLC programming is an asset.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations and output of the automated Tray Pack line, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to production standards.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to Tray Pack operators and maintenance personnel on the operation and upkeep of the automated Tray Pack line.
  • Develop, update, and maintain backups of automation programs, including those for PLCs, servo drives, HMIs, and robotic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and test hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components within automation systems using machine drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Apply extensive knowledge in troubleshooting and configuring automation systems to maintain operational quality and meet efficiency targets.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department.
  • Work in scheduled shutdowns, shift work, overtime assignments, and respond to call-ins as required to support operational needs.
  • Collaborate closely with on-shift production supervisors and operators to promptly resolve issues contributing to unscheduled downtime.
  • Escalate complex automation-related concerns to management for further evaluation and resolution.
  • Actively contributes to the continuous improvement initiatives related to the automated Tray Pack line.
