Job summary

SaskEnergy, Saskatchewan’s natural gas distribution company, is seeking a District Mechanic Operator II to perform plant, gas line, and storage operations and maintenance. The role requires operating and maintaining compressor drives and associated infrastructure, with standby duties, travel, and extended hours as standard.

Ideal candidates hold a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic certificate, Grade 12, and a valid Class 5 license.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Provincial or Interprovencional Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate or Provincial or Interprovencional Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) Certificate.
• Physically fit (doctor’s certificate recognized job requirements).
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair compressor drives, compressors and associated plant and storage infrastructure.
• Maintain station operating units and auxiliary equipment; identify parts needed.
• Operate compressor drives, compressors and associated plant and storage infrastructure; ensure compliance with standards.
• Carry out operating orders and gas control centre requirements to maintain system gas flows and pressures.
• Interpret and calculate information from charts, computer applications and measurement instruments and prepare logs and reports.
• Perform gas line operation duties including line locating, hot taps, valve operation and integrity projects.
• Coordinate gas line integrity digs, cleaning runs and re-coating of gas line to ensure integrity.
• Oversee work of other employees/contractors to ensure compliance with instructions and standards.
• Mentor apprentice personnel as Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Mechanic).
