Job summary

Saskatoon Motor Products, part of the AutoCanada network, is a high-volume, fast-paced shop where Journeyman Automotive Technicians diagnose, repair, and service vehicles, with access to reconditioning work and ample hours.

This role offers hands-on diagnostics, mentorship to apprentices, and a path for career growth, with competitive hourly pay ($44–$51) and benefits from Day One, plus an RRSP matching program after probation.

Qualifications

  • Provincially recognized Journeyman Certificate (in progress or completed).
  • Red Seal certification is an asset.
  • Experience with multiple vehicle makes and models.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, test, and repair vehicle systems to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspect critical components such as brakes, fuel systems, and engines.
  • Repair or replace parts as needed; Document all work in repair orders.
  • Mentor apprentices and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
  • Stay up to date on factory technical bulletins and participate in training classes.

Your Area of Focus

As a Journeyman Automotive Technician, your primary responsibilities include diagnosing, testing, and repairing vehicle systems to ensure safety and functionality using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment. You will conduct preventative maintenance, inspect critical vehicle components such as brakes, fuel systems, and engines, and repair or replace parts as needed. In addition, you will mentor apprentices and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.

What Drives Your Day-to-Day
  • Perform repairs and maintenance efficiently and accurately, following dealership and OEM standards
  • Communicate with Parts and Service Advisors to manage production, cycle times, and customer updates
  • Conduct multi-point inspections and recommend necessary repairs to ensure vehicle safety and reliability
  • Document all work in repair orders to meet OEM standards and ensure warranty compliance
  • Maintain personal inventory of commonly used tools not provided by the Service department
  • Stay up to date on factory technical bulletins and participate in factory-sponsored training classes
  • Deliver an exceptional repair experience that drives customer loyalty and department revenue

  • Provincially recognized Journeyman Automotive Mechanic Certificate (completed or in progress)
  • Red Seal Certification is an asset
  • Completion of related post-secondary programs or training courses
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • High level of integrity
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
