Journeyman Heavy Equipment Field Technician

Key Information:
- Must be able to operate service truck in the field.
- Must be able to repair and maintain all makes of heavy construction equipment (Dozers, Bulldozers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Scrapers, Water Wagons, Motor Graders, Compaction Rollers, Articulated Trucks).
- Must have heavy-duty mechanic certification.
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (8 hours regular time, 2 hours overtime).
- Willing to work evenings and weekends (on-call rotation).
- Hourly rate depends on experience.

Job Responsibilities:
- Operate service truck in the field.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
- Maintain and repair all makes of heavy construction equipment.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance tasks.
- Service attachments and working tools.
- Verify and repair emission control systems.
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults.
- Diagnose faults using computerized testing equipment.
- Test repaired equipment for performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain maintenance reports and documentation.
- Instruct apprentices.
- Perform repair work on heavy trucks.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities with site management.
- Ensure safety compliance and promote safety awareness.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Operate and drive heavy equipment safely at work sites.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification or eligibility to obtain it.
- Experience in a leadership role is an asset.
- Completion of a 3-5 year apprenticeship or equivalent work experience and relevant courses.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting/repairing CAT, John Deere, and Hitachi equipment is an asset.
- Experience in Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction or Infrastructure is required.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License; a driver's abstract is required.
- Class 3 Driver's License with air brakes is an asset.
- Ability to handle up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Reliable transportation.
- Proficient English skills.
Education: Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification.
