Salary Range: $32.59 - $37.26
The Laboratory Assistant will perform pre-analytical functions and blood collections on adults, babies, infants, and children. Responsibilities include collection, preparation, and labeling of specimens, pre-analytical preparation such as centrifuging, aliquoting, labeling, logging, specimen send-out, data entry on Laboratory Information Systems, participation in quality assurance and quality improvement activities, and compliance with departmental procedures and accreditation standards. The role also involves maintaining specimen collection equipment, following inventory control systems, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed as per hospital guidelines and legal requirements. The Laboratory Assistant will participate in special projects as assigned. Physical demands may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling. This position contributes to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
