Job summary

The Town of Conception Bay South is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Engineering and Public Works Department. This is a unionized, temporary full-time position reporting to Public Works Supervisors.

The successful applicant will operate equipment and municipal machinery in accordance with the job description, maintaining safety and efficiency in daily operations. Applicants must have a Class 3 license with Class 8 and Air Brake endorsement; and provide education documents and references.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized educational program accredited by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for equipment operation.
• Must possess a minimum of Class 3 with a Class 8 and current Class 9 Air Brake endorsement
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the operation of heavy equipment is required
• Any combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment in accordance with the job description and municipal needs; perform related tasks as required by the Public Works Supervisors.

UNIONIZED POSITION

Temporary Full-Time

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

This position reports directly to the Public Works Supervisors and will perform related work as per the job description.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of a recognized educational program accredited by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for equipment operation.
• Must possess a minimum of Class 3 with a Class 8 and current Class 9 Air Brake endorsement
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the operation of heavy equipment is required
• Any combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS:

Equipment includes those specifically equipped to carry out the business of the Town, including rubber tire backhoe, tandem and single axle trucks equipped with or without plow and wing; loader with or without plow and wing; and equipment used for curbside recycling; and be willing to be trained to operate other equipment that may be required, or available, in the Department.

Applications must include a copy of official educational documents confirming education requirements and references. The successful applicant must provide an acceptable Certificate of Conduct and Driver's Abstract prior to commencement.
