Summary of Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor, Lease Administration, this role involves delivering real estate services focused on leasing and licensing, including research, advice, negotiations, and lease/license administration. The position also involves planning and guiding city partners regarding real property assets and activities.

General Duties
  1. Manage projects related to real estate transactions.
  2. Provide real estate management services and advice to city departments and agencies.
  3. Research and analyze properties to develop disposition strategies for city-owned real estate, focusing on leasing and licensing.
  4. Negotiate leases and licenses in line with the City’s Portfolio Management Strategy.
  5. Administer daily lease and license operations, liaising with stakeholders.
  6. Assist in developing the Corporate Master Real Estate Plan.
  7. Develop and implement policies for acquisitions, leases, licenses, and dispositions.
  8. Research strategies to meet real estate needs, providing recommendations to management and council.
  9. Represent the city at arbitrations, projects, and committees with internal and external partners.
  10. Prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for management and council.
  11. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
  12. Support customer service initiatives aligned with legislative and corporate standards.
  13. Engage with community partners and stakeholders through meetings and presentations.
  14. Implement work programs and meet performance objectives.
  15. Adhere to health and safety legislation and policies.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in real estate transactions, acquisition/disposition, and negotiations.
  3. Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Ontario Municipal Act, Planning Act, Land Titles Act, etc.
  4. Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  5. Experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
  6. Research and problem-solving skills, with experience in public administration a plus.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.
  8. Valid Class G Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle.
