Interior Health is seeking a relief full-time Job Developer to join the Mental Health Employment Support team at the Penticton Health Centre in Penticton, BC. The role focuses on helping adults with mental health and/substance use challenges achieve meaningful Employment and independence.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Community Social Service Diploma or a recognized program in psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Two years' recent related experience with job coaching, marketing and development with individuals with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid British Columbia driver's license (Class 5).

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a relief full-time Job Developer to join our Mental Health Employment Support team at the Penticton Health Centre in beautiful Penticton, B.C. This relief position is until the return of the incumbent. Interior Health and our partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages. A proactive and collaborative approach, combined with knowledge of community and vocational resources and the ability to develop meaningful relationships with employers, will support success in this role.

What will you work on?

This position supports adults looking to engage or re engage with employment opportunities. Works closely with multiple disciplinary teams in Penticton Mental Health. Applicants considered end to demonstrate a level of being comfortable and/or willing to learn the complexity of working with individuals that have moderate to severe Mental Health diagnoses and presentations. This position provides supported employment services to client’s recovering from severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders who are seeking competitive employment in accordance with the established vocational rehabilitation plan by performing duties such as: establishing rapport with clients and their family; encouraging and supporting the attainment of educational and/or employment goals; providing support to assist clients to obtain information on volunteer and/or employment opportunities and/or job training/retraining initiatives and programs; providing life skills and pre-employment skills training as needed to clients as part of their volunteer and/or employment readiness; interviewing clients to identify interests, skills, values, job readiness and suitability for employment and/or volunteer opportunities provides assistance with resume writing, job search and retention skills; facilitating resume and/or interview preparation workshops; identifying prospective employers within the community appropriate to client’s work profiles; and developing and maintaining relationships with vocational resource organizations, provincial and federal vocational programs, wage subsidy programs, etc. to foster employment opportunities for client group.

Scheduling Information:

Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours. Days of work are Monday to Friday.
