About the role

The Job Developer is responsible for providing individualized services to employers and clients to achieve Labour Market Attachment for clients unlikely to find work independently or in a competitive labour market. This includes access to the hidden job market and employers. Job Development Services support clients with job matching, referrals, and negotiations for new opportunities based on client needs, skills, and employer requirements. Services are delivered at WorkBC Centre and community locations, depending on client needs. Clients requiring intensive support for job retention will also receive follow-up services to help maintain employment.

What you’ll do
  1. Determine eligibility by assessing clients to identify the need for Job Development Services; document findings and rationale in the client's ICM case file.
  2. Develop a plan outlining activities for clients participating in Job Development Services.
  3. Create employment opportunities by proactively marketing clients to specific employers for various placements, including volunteer, part-time, and full-time positions, as well as work experiences like job shadowing and informational interviews.
  4. Assist leadership in planning and hosting hiring fairs and job clubs.
  5. Promote WorkBC services within the community and at employment venues.
  6. Engage with potential employers, assess their hiring needs, and advise on appropriate services.
  7. Attend and represent the organization at job fairs and employer networking events.
  8. Facilitate job fairs and refer candidates to employers to expedite hiring processes.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements :

  • Experience in client needs assessments, coaching, working with individuals with complex barriers, and building partnerships with employers and community agencies.
  • Ability to market clients and explain benefits to employers, including specialized populations.
  • Strong marketing skills for employment services and networking.
  • Creative approach to meeting clients' employment needs.
  • Experience in job matching and assessing employer and client needs.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional conduct; criminal record check required.
  • Ability to work during contractual hours and attend community events outside regular hours.
  • Flexibility to work across different locations within the catchment area.

Preferred Criteria :

  • Post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in relevant fields such as employment development, social work, or human resources.
  • CCDP certification preferred.
  • Fluency in French or other languages is an asset.
  • Proficiency in social media and experience with online employment tools.
