Job description

Northern College is seeking a Job Consultant/Job Developer in our Timmins Employment Services department. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Bilingualism is an asset.

Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services and Academic Upgrading, the successful candidate will deliver the Employment Option Programs within the College catchment area.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust service plans and collaborate with clients;
  • Provide ongoing career guidance to clients and make appropriate referrals to community services or other employment services as required;
  • Conduct intake interviews to determine client eligibility and needs, assessing clients’ skills, interests, abilities, barriers, educational background, and work experience;
  • Complete all necessary documentation, such as application forms, service plan agreements, releases of information, and obtain necessary identification;
  • Research, develop, and deliver workshops based on assessment outcomes and clients’ ongoing needs.

What You Will Need To Be Considered
  • A two-year diploma in Human Services or a relevant/related field. A diploma in Business may also be considered;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in career and employment guidance, counselling, employment workshop delivery, or job placement.
