A leading post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan is seeking a Job Coach to support clients in overcoming employment barriers and achieving their career goals. The role involves providing coaching, developing employer relationships, and facilitating employability skills sessions. Ideal candidates will have a degree in human services, experience in career services, and a strong understanding of First Nations cultures.
Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has the authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT serves over 2,400 students annually through urban and community programs and supports over 6,000 clients via nine Career Centres across the province. The Job Coach plays a crucial role in supporting clients by helping them overcome employment barriers as they seek employment. They understand the industry or sector they specialize in and assist clients in transitioning into new work environments. Additionally, they help employers understand the needs of new workers. This position promotes and embodies SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.
The Job Coach works with clients to provide information and support in career planning, skills training, and employment or educational goals. They follow up with clients and employers and collaborate with other departments to ensure client success. The Job Coach acts as a link between employers and workers, supporting both to develop long-term careers.
This role involves providing job coaching, developing and maintaining employer relationships across the province, and creating employment opportunities for clients. The Job Coach leads in career and skill assessments, career coaching, individualized planning, and supporting clients in obtaining and maintaining employment. They assist with skill development, resume writing, and job searches across communities. The position also involves database updates, report generation, and administrative duties, along with additional support as needed.
A post-secondary degree or diploma in human services or a related field is required. Experience in industrial trades as a journeyperson is an asset. A minimum of two years' experience in career services, employment staffing, or human resources is necessary. Experience in career advising, counseling, or case management is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations is advantageous. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required, as travel may be necessary.
