Job summary

BFI Constructors Ltd. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) to join our Mildred Lake Shop team in Fort McMurray.

The role requires 3–5 years of journeyman HET experience on Komatsu, Cat and John Deere equipment, with strong diagnostic skills for electrical and hydraulic systems. Responsibilities include engine/transmission repairs, preventive maintenance, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years HET experience as journeyperson on Komatsu, Cat and John Deere Equipment
• Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment systems including engines, transmissions, drive systems and brakes
• Assemble and disassemble components as needed during repairs
• Performing scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, and lubrications
• Complete repairs as per estimates completed in a timely manner
• Maintain high quality of workmanship to ensure customer satisfaction
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols
• Maintaining and repairing our fleet across the Wood Buffalo Region
• Work well with others and willing to help apprentices
• Follow and comply with all health, safety, environmental, and HR procedures

BFI is looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at our Mildred Lake Shop in Fort McMurray.

Site: Mildred Lake Shop

Hourly Rate: $54.76

Shift schedule: 14 days on 14days off

Accommodations: LOA at $150.00/day worked

Experience Required:

• 3-5 years HET experience as journeyperson on Komatsu, Cat and John Deere Equipment
• Techs must have experience with diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment systems including engines, transmissions, drive systems and brakes

• Successful candidates will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

• CSTS-09 or CSTS 2020
• WHMIS 2015
• Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness – Energy Safety Canada
• Common Safety Orientation (CSO) – Energy Safety Canada
• Valid class 5 Driver's License
• Drivers abstract - must be a minimum of 3 years and within 30 days
• Other certification may be required based on site requirements

Successful candidates must:

• Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
• Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
• Urine Drug Test
• Fit for Work Test
• Vision Test
