The Jim Pattison Centre for Health System Learning and Innovation (the Centre) is newly established by the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) Foundation in collaboration with Interior Health (IH). Operating as an independent legal entity, the Centre provides a suite of coordinated services to the health system and innovators addressing health system challenges. Dedicated to innovative problem-solving, the Centre is the first of its kind with a focus on rural, remote, Indigenous and community healthcare that fosters collaboration across sectors to drive meaningful solutions for population health and system-wide healthcare improvements.
The Centre exists to support and contribute towards growth of the health sector innovation ecosystem by gathering individuals, communities, organizations and other partners around a shared purpose to deliver better solutions for patients, providers and communities. The Centre’s strategic priorities are informed by the healthcare needs of the population of the Southern Interior of British Columbia. The Centre aims to be a catalyst for health systems learning, improvement and innovation and has a number of roles including:
The new Board has just been established and is recruiting its first Executive Director. The founding Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the JP Centre for Health Systems Learning and Innovation. Reporting to the Board of Directors and leading a small team, the ED will stand up and then lead the Centre, playing a visible role igniting enthusiasm for this new innovation hub. Supporting the Board, stewarding the development of a strategic plan, building capacity, devising innovative funding streams, and facilitating partnerships between industry and healthcare entities are all key elements of the role.
The ideal candidate brings a background that includes a combination of healthcare, innovation, industry partnerships and business. Technical expertise in areas such as technology transfer, commercialization, entrepreneurship, system transformation, and securing investment funding from private and public sources is ideal, as is an understanding of the needs of the region. As the inaugural ED, the ideal candidate will need to bring an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to envision the long-term structure of the Centre, as well as a hands-on ability to direct numerous Centre priorities.
The role will require regular travel and is headquartered in Kelowna, BC.
The base salary range for this role is between $140,000 – $180,000 plus benefits. Consideration will be given to the candidate’s background and experience when establishing the final salary.
