Job summary

The University of Manitoba invites applications for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Seminar Leader for MUSC 1386 Jazz Musicianship 1 Keyboard Lab in the M.A.Desautels Faculty of Music.

Starting September 8, 2026 through December 30, 2026, the role involves a small weekly commitment (0–2 hours) with an hourly rate of CAD 21.82 for undergraduates or CAD 24.29 for graduates. Class times are Friday 11:30 am – 12:20 pm.

Qualifications

• Empathetic approach to instructional needs of students.
• Effective skills in English.
• Experience assisting in instruction or teaching support.

Responsibilities

• Attends orientation, planning and coordinating meetings for course staff.
• May attend lectures or instructional sessions in the course.
• Prepares instructional materials and presents to students in tutorials, labs or seminars.
• Marks student work including exams and assignments.
• Maintains regular consultation times with students and provides additional help as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned, such as AV material preparation or field trips.
• Occasionally substitutes for other teaching staff.
