Job summary

University of Manitoba invites applications for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Seminar Leader for MUSC 5302 (Acting for Singers Lab). Position involves 0–2 hours of work per week with total 12 hours, in-class support and assessment duties under the M.A.Desautels Faculty of Music.

Compensation includes hourly rates for undergraduate and graduate students, with contact via Sarah Rout. Class times: Wednesdays 12:30–1:20 pm; start Sept 8, 2026, end Dec 30, 2026.

Qualifications

• Completion of academic studies and experience appropriate to assisting in the instruction.
• Empathetic approach to instructional needs and concerns of students.
• Effective skills in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Attend orientation, planning and coordinating meetings for course staff.
• May attend lectures and other sessions of instruction in the course.
• Prepare instructional materials and present to students in tutorials, laboratories, or seminars.
• Mark student work and provide feedback on exams or major projects.
• Maintain regularly scheduled consultation times and offer informal support when needed.
• Assist with development or adaptation of audiovisual materials and experiments.
• Occasionally substitute for other teaching staff as needed.
• Identify assignment problems or misinterpretations and inform students.
