Job summary

ShipTime Canada Inc. is seeking a senior Java developer to design and maintain high-volume, low-latency applications, with a strong focus on integrating with Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.

You will work in a fast-growing tech environment, collaborating across teams to deliver scalable SaaS solutions for North American eCommerce and payments. A bachelor's degree and 5+ years of Java experience are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with RESTful services and relational databases.
• Experience integrating with eCommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce.
• Proactive communication with senior management and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Java applications that are high-volume and low-latency.
• Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine requirements.
• Integrate applications with networks, servers, and databases for scalable functionality, focusing on eCommerce platforms.
• Set up test environments and integrate with 3rd party applications.
• Provide coaching to increase technical capability across the team.
• Participate in Agile development, contribute to sprints, stand-ups, and reviews.
• Prepare releases and maintain well-documented code and updates.

This role directly impacts delivering leading-edge SaaS technology in the eCommerce/payments/shipping sector for the North American market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain Java applications that are high-volume and low-latency, necessary for our business applications.
• Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.
• Integrate applications with network systems, servers, and databases to ensure seamless functionality and scalability, particularly focusing on eCommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.
• Setup virtual test environments and integrate with 3rd party applications.
• Provide coaching and training to increase technical capability across the team.
• Participate in Agile development teams, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
• Prepare and produce releases of software components. Maintain well-documented code and system updates for seamless integration and troubleshooting.
• Develop test-cases and test plans to verify software requirements and usability.

Qualifications:

• Excellent skills with Java, Spring Framework, SQL, Hibernate. (5+ Years)
• Experience with source control management with GIT.
• Experience with Ai coding tools like Claude Code.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage priorities, stay organized. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management, supervisor, peers, and end users.
• Communicate and engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's Degree

Skills:

• At least 5-7 years of Java experience
• Experience with ReactJS, Bootstrap (optional)
• Experience working with RESTful web services
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, technologies, and solutions
• Exceptionally self-motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented
• Creativity in devising ways to break software to expose failures during test cyclesTesting web applications

Experience with the following would be an asset:

• Automation, deployment, and configuration of IT services across private and public clouds
• Working knowledge of virtualization, public and private clouds, and datacenter products: Google Cloud, Docker, etc.
• Jenkins CI
• Working knowledge or experience with Microservices application architecture, Container frameworks
