Job summary

The Town of LaSalle is seeking a Part-time Janitorial Assistant to maintain the Vollmer Culture and Recreational Complex. You will support event setups, provide customer service to visitors, and perform ongoing maintenance for safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities include cleaning, operation of standard maintenance equipment, and assisting with ad hoc departmental requests. Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent is required, and CPR/AED/First Aid assets are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Grade 12 Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform custodial tasks and operate cleaning equipment safely.
  • Good customer service and courteous interaction with patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain building and patron safety.
  • Cleaning of floors and building areas.
  • Interact with patrons and provide courteous customer service.
  • Operate cleaning equipment used for facilities maintenance.
  • Set up and dismantle rental rooms for events.
  • Keep building and sidewalks clean and safe.
  • Assist with minor repairs on equipment as required.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from other departments.

Brief Description

The part-time Janitorial Assistant is responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the Vollmer Culture and Recreational Complex, provides assistance for special events and carries out customer service to everyone who enters the Complex.

Requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain building and patron safety
  • Building and floor cleaning for the Vollmer Culture and Recreational Complex
  • Interact and provide customer service while maintaining patron safety in a courteous manner
  • Operate all equipment normally used in the ongoing maintenance of facilities and/or development programs
  • Set up and dismantling of rental rooms for various events as required
  • Maintain cleanliness of building(s) and removal of refuse
  • Maintain sidewalks and walkways clear of snow, ice, water, and other debris
  • Perform minor repairs on fitness equipment as required.
  • Attend to ad hoc calls from other departments requesting assistance
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ontario Grade 12 Graduation Diploma or equivalent
Qualifications Considered Assets
  • CPR
  • AED
  • Standard First Aid
Working Conditions
  • Duties shall be primarily performed indoors; however, some activities may be performed outdoors
  • Exposure to varying levels of heat, humidity, and cold temperatures
  • Regular contact with members of the public
  • Manual dexterity to use desktop computer, hand tools, power equipment, and motor vehicles
  • Periodic exposure to body waste and odor
  • Regular use of cleaning supplies, solutions, pool chemicals, paint, etc.
  • Safety equipment will be required (i.e. safety shoes, glasses/goggles, aprons, respirators, gloves, etc.)
Hours of Work
  • Primary hours of work are Monday to Sunday (24 hours maximum), day, afternoon and evening shifts including holidays as posted.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical work environment requiring extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, lifting, crouching, climbing, pushing, pulling, driving, stair/ladder climbing, and varying levels of noise
