Job summary

Westbow Group of Companies’ Prokey Living division seeks a reliable janitor to maintain cleanliness, safety, and welcome for residents in our residential building. You’ll perform routine cleaning, restocking, and reporting maintenance needs with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail.

We value a flexible, hardworking team player with at least 1 year of janitorial experience, the ability to lift up to 25 lbs, a valid driver’s license, and knowledge of WHMIS.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a residential or commercial janitorial, building cleaning, or similar role.
• Knowledge of janitorial cleaning techniques, equipment, products, and basic building upkeep.
• Ability to lift heavy items up to 25 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks (dusting, vacuuming, mopping, floor care) in common areas (lobbies, hallways, staircases, elevators).
• Ensure common areas are clean, safe, and well maintained (lobby, gym, amenity rooms, entrances).
• Collect and dispose of garbage following proper waste procedures.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, restocking paper products and soap.
• Report maintenance issues to Site Manager during building checks.
• Provide friendly customer service to residents.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Identify areas needing cleaning or minor repairs and take action.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE as needed.

About The Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Janitor is responsible for helping maintain the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of our residential building. You are proactive and take pride in keeping the property clean, well maintained, and welcoming. You enjoy working hard, completing basic upkeep tasks, and building positive relationships with residents.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Performing routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and floor care in common areas including lobbies, hallways, staircases, and elevators.
• Ensuring common areas are clean, safe, and well maintained, including the lobby, gym, amenity rooms, and building entrances.
• Collection and disposal of garbage from designated areas while following proper waste disposal procedures.
• Cleaning and sanitizing common area restrooms including restocking paper products and hand soap as needed.
• Completing regular building checks and reporting maintenance issues or required repairs in common areas to the Site Manager.
• Provide friendly customer service to building residents.
• Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and basic janitorial equipment.
• Proactively identifying areas requiring cleaning, upkeep, or minor attention and taking appropriate action.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and residents.
• Using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.

What We’re Looking For

• 1 year of experience in a residential or commercial janitorial, building cleaning, or similar role.

• Valid driver’s license.
