Job summary

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma with relevant work experience.
  • Ability to handle janitorial/cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Strong time management skills, and the ability to plan and schedule tasks as appropriate.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, secure and distribute goods for all departments as per the established procedures.
  • Secure all coinciding documentation and forward to the appropriate department head.
  • Order, maintain and control appropriate inventory as per established procedures.
  • Store goods in a safe, tidy manner in designated storage areas.
  • Clean the facility and grounds as per established schedule.
  • Operate and maintain floor cleaning and other janitorial equipment.
  • Clean walls, ceilings and windows as instructed.
  • Collect garbage and transport to collection bins.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Janitor maintains the cleanliness of the facility and grounds of the long term care home while keeping appropriate inventory and distributing goods for all departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setup and takedown furniture for functions.
  • Assistwith moving of resident’s belongings.
  • Assistthe laundry operation as required.
  • Respondto a facility fire alarm in accordance with the established Policies and Procedures.
  • Participatein Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
  • Performother related duties as assigned.

Working/ Employment Conditions

Working Conditions

  • Flexibility to work outside of core business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
  • The incumbent must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including lifting approximately 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and moving heavy materials, equipment and boxes.

  • Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, by the first day of employment.
  • Current(obtained within the past six (6) months) two-step tuberculosis test orQuanti-FERON-TB Gold plus testby thefirst day of employment.
