General Description

A janitor is generally responsible for cleaning all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities may include additional cleaning tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs, and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Strip and wax floors, steam clean carpets, and clean windows upon request.
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Clean glass and trim at entrance doors, both interior and exterior. Spot clean interior walls daily as needed.
• Maintain bathrooms by cleaning and restocking supplies daily. Tasks include damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, and floors.
• Assist the supervisor with additional tasks as needed.
• Monitor for defects such as clogged urinals and burnt-out lights, reporting issues to supervisors.
• Assist with shower areas, which are located across the street from each other, requiring movement between buildings.
• Collect and dispose of building trash daily, placing it in designated collection areas.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers as per specifications.
• Perform high dusting and wall washing.
• Handle compactor operations, lift up to 50 lbs, operate heavy-duty machines, and change garbage bags.

Requirements

Ability to follow directions, work independently with minimal supervision, and cooperate within a team.

Proficiency in using cleaning tools and equipment.

Own transportation is required.

Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, high energy, and endurance are essential.

Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
