Job Title: IVF Cryobank Technician

Location: Richmond, B.C. Canada
Job Type: Full time, 6-month Contract with potential for permanent

Who we are:
CAN-Pacific Cryostorage is the only biorepository located in Western Canada dedicated to the storage, and distribution of human reproductive tissues for IVF treatment (Embryos, Semen and Oocytes). We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IVF Cryobank Technician to join our dynamic team.

Job Description:
The IVF Cryobank Technician will be responsible for the handling and storage of cryopreserved reproductive tissues, including sperm, eggs, and embryos. You will be responsible for providing support to the cryobank team by performing a variety of technical and administrative tasks in collaboration with and/or under supervision of senior technical staff.

Responsibilities:

  1. Process and prepare cryopreserved reproductive tissues (sperm, eggs, embryos) for storage and retrieval.
  2. Maintain tissue storage in cryopreservation tanks and monitor tissue integrity.
  3. Maintain accurate documentation and lab records for all samples in the tissue bank.
  4. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
  5. Perform routine quality control checks and troubleshooting of equipment and supplies.
  6. Follow all relevant safety protocols, quality assurance guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  7. Coordinate with outside fertility clinics and other team members to ensure smooth transportation of tissues between facilities.
  8. Assist in inventory management of laboratory materials and supplies.
  9. Communicate clearly and compassionately to clients in relation to their tissue storage account, transportation of their tissues and their disposition requests for their tissues.

Requirements:

  1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  2. Prior experience working in an IVF laboratory, reproductive medicine, or tissue banking is a plus.
  3. Experience working with cryogenic tissue storage is preferred.
  4. Strong understanding of laboratory safety and quality control procedures.
  5. Knowledge of cryopreservation techniques and reproductive technologies.
  6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  7. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  8. Strong communication skills including the ability to put patients at ease while discussing sensitive medical topics.
  9. Professional and friendly demeanor coupled with strong telephone skills.
  10. Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
  11. Able to lift up to 30 lbs of supplies and equipment.
