Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is hiring an IT Technologist for the Maritime Helicopter Training Simulator (MHTS) program at the Fumerton-Bing Training Centre (FBTC) in Shearwater. The MHTS trains RCAF Pilots, TACCO, SENSO personnel, and maintenance staff for the Maritime Helicopter (MH). The role involves maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and conducting upgrades. It is a full-time position based mainly onsite, with work out of our Dartmouth location.

The IT Technologist will be responsible for:

  • Supporting system installation, checkout, and performance demonstrations.
  • Providing ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications.
  • Performing routine maintenance, backups, inspections, upgrades, and supporting testing.
  • Validating system configurations, installing hardware/software, and supporting training in coordination with the customer.
  • Representing maintenance needs to support groups.
  • Supporting documentation updates and hardware management.
  • Maintaining equipment and cables.
  • Occasionally working outside regular hours as needed.
  • Supporting the Life Cycle Maintenance Manager as required.
  • Flexibility to work shifts from 6:00 to midnight, Monday to Friday, and outside hours for maintenance activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The candidate should have:

  • 4-6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of installing and configuring computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS, including Windows XP and Server 2008, and RAID systems.
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, RS232, USB) and MRC certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with network devices like switches and routers, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication skills and adaptability.
  • Willingness to work out-of-schedule hours as needed.
  • Ability to work at sites outside GDMS-C control if required.

Assets to have:

  • Experience with Airborne Mission Systems and simulators.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD systems.

Applicants must be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, able to obtain security clearance, and eligible to work in Canada.
