Job summary

Altasciences seeks an IT Technician II to support users across our Laval site in Quebec. The role provides hands-on helpdesk assistance, escalations, and coaching to junior technicians. You will manage accounts, devices, and basic network tasks while ensuring timely resolution and knowledge transfer.

The position requires a college IT-related degree, 3+ years of experience, and fluency in French and English. On-site at Laval with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• IT-related college degree completed.
• 3+ years of related IT support experience.
• Fluency in French and English is essential.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+ certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong knowledge of Windows/macOS hardware and software basics.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems.
• Coach and support junior technicians (IT Technician I).
• Respond to helpdesk requests via phone and email promptly.
• Resolve issues across sites to share knowledge and maintain user satisfaction.
• Record calls and document solutions in the ITSM system.
• Identify recurring problems and propose improvements.
• Troubleshoot user accounts, emails, and profiles.
• Prepare computers with software and OS for delivery.
• Train staff on hardware/software usage.
• Support hardware/software upgrades and configurations.

About The Role

AnIT TechnicianIIis responsible forsupportingAltasciences’users in their usage of the tools provided bytheIT department such as computers, telephones, software, laptops, mobile phones, etc.AnITTechnicianIIresponds to and tracks user requests and solutions via an automated Helpdesk System. The IT TechnicianIIwill supportthe morejunior technicians and act as a point of escalation ifrequired.

What You’ll Do Here

• The computer technician providesaccurateand creative solutions to user problems.

• Enhance and develop quality support methods and communication skills through coaching feedback.

• Provide support and coaching to the junior technicians (ITTechnicianI).

• Assistin the resolution of user and support issues among company sites to ensuretimelydistribution of knowledge and positive impact on user satisfaction.

• Research, resolve, and respond to questions received via phonecalls andemailsin a timely manner.

• Participate in team projects that enhance the quality or efficiency of help desk service.

• Use the IT Service Management system to record calls, document issues, and communicate the solutions for incidents.

• Identifyrecurringproblems andhelpendusersto resolvethem.

• Troubleshootproblemsencounteredby staff members, user account,emailand user profiles creation / management.

• Trainand support more junior ITstaffin the correct use of the hardware and software that are part of the network.

• Preparecomputers, including validated systems for delivery to employeesand loadthem with theappropriate softwareand operating system.

• Suggestimprovements and upgrades to hardware and software.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Acollege degree in an IT-related program
• Minimum of3 yearsof related experience
• Excellent communication skills in French and English
• Certificates/Licenses /Registrations:CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+certifications.
• Able to lift weights of up to 50 pounds
• Intermediate toadvanced knowledge in the configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of Windows 10/11 and Cisco Phone Equipment.
• Intermediate to advancedknowledge of PC and laptop hardware.
• Intermediate to advancedknowledge in mobile smartphones, iPhone, Android.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office, printer management, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, AirWatch Mobile Device Management, Windows Deployment
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals.
• Ability towriteadvanced reports and correspondence.
• Well-developedinterpersonal skills arerequired.
• Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
• Ability to develop strong trusting relationshipstogain support and achieve results.

• The employee communicates frequently with Altasciences employees across Canada and the United States. As such, English is the main language used to correspond between offices.
• The employee frequently communicates with English-only customers outside the province of Quebec.
