Job summary

A leading gold mining company is seeking an IT Support Technician for their Great Bear project in Red Lake, Ontario. This role involves hardware and software maintenance, user support, and compliance with safety practices. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with hardware and software maintenance and telecommunication assistance.
  • Install new equipment and troubleshoot issues.
  • Support hardware refreshers and provide maintenance.
  • Prepare instructional materials for training users.
  • Ensure compliance with company IT policies.

Skills

Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Microsoft Teams
Interpretation of technical language and documentation

Job description

The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, representing one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit supporting a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program aims to support the vision of a high-quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with hardware and software maintenance, device setup, service, and telecommunication assistance.
  • Install new equipment, respond to service requests, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Support hardware refreshers by providing maintenance as needed.
  • Configure, install, and deploy wired and wireless devices.
  • Prepare instructional materials for end users and provide training when required.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Ensure adherence to company IT policies and security practices.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and determine root causes.
Work Environment and Compliance
  • Maintain a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to a zero-accident goal.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Support a work environment aligned with Kinross’ Safeground principles.
  • Adhere to all relevant Great Bear policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills

Post-secondary education in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role or the mining industry is preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Familiarity with desktop applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Intune, and Autopilot.
  • Ability to interpret technical language and documentation.

This position follows a 5X2 rotation and is located in Red Lake, Ontario.
