Equation Staffing Solutions is proud to be the partner of choice for the City of Calgary’s temporary staffing needs. We are seeking an IT Technician to join the team for a 3+ month contract, assisting with operations and maintenance tasks, as well as system lifecycle upgrade projects. Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections following built-in checklists, technical procedures, and/or maintenance manuals. Update asset attributes in the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) repository.
- Support system upgrades, renewals, or replacements. Participate in piloting new products or upgrades to existing assets/systems. Conduct site surveys and assist with equipment installations, relocations, and upgrades.
- Respond to customer service requests and address PS 100 issues, system failures, and diagnostics.
- Troubleshoot software/hardware problems using various testing methods, computerized tools, maintenance manuals, technical procedures, or record drawings, applying professional judgment and experience.
- Provide support for networks, computers, servers, workstations, cellular and wired equipment, and cabling. Assist with hardware repair and software testing for various IT systems.
- Maintain and update test benches and stations. Build test jigs as per design specifications, and test, align, and calibrate spares in the shop. Ensure there is an adequate inventory of working spares.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in IT support and maintenance roles, ideally in a public sector or similar environment.
- Strong technical skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and asset management.
- Familiarity with network configurations, servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with EAM systems or similar asset management platforms is an asset.
