About The Role

  • D-Wave is seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator II to join our IT team, whose mission is to provide top-notch infrastructure and support services across the organization. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in designing, implementing, and supporting our core IT systems, including networking, security, telephony, and backup environments. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless support for both local and remote users, troubleshoot OS-related issues, and strengthen our infrastructure’s overall performance and security. This is a hands-on role that balances project-based work with day-to-day technical support, offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on the reliability and efficiency of our systems.

What You'll Do

  • Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain modern, secure, and scalable infrastructure that meets evolving business needs.
  • Manage and optimize core enterprise IT services, including Active Directory / LDAP, Centrify, RSA, Outlook 365, and our internal server and storage infrastructure (physical and virtual).
  • Administer security-related systems and tools such as IDS, MDM, antivirus, central encryption management, and patch management to reduce operational and cyber risk.
  • Maintain and support Atlassian Suite and other content management platforms like SharePoint.
  • Assist in defining, implementing, and monitoring IT hardware, services, and network and security devices.
  • Troubleshoot and support enterprise and development computing systems, including performance tuning and tier 2 support for internal and external customers.
  • Provide occasional hands-on helpdesk support, including software and hardware installations, OS troubleshooting (Windows / macOS / Linux), system configuration, and file backup implementation.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to support infrastructure and development needs, including maintaining AWS connection points and leveraging tools like Kubernetes, Chef, and Terraform.
  • Develop scripts and automation to improve IT workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and optimize IP networks, including VLANs, subnetting, access control, wireless networks, and VPNs across remote sites.
  • Maintain monitoring and management systems (SNMP, Syslog, RMM) and support cybersecurity initiatives, including threat analysis, awareness training, and SIEM platform maintenance.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on IT system administration experience in mid to large-sized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, including physical and logical network design, remote connectivity, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with Linux administration (TCP / IP stack, shell scripting, NFS, NAS), and virtualization platforms including XCP-ng and VMware ESXi.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Proficiency with containerization tools (Kubernetes, Docker) and automation / configuration tools.
  • Experience with identity and access management systems (DC / Azure AD).
  • Familiarity with backup technologies and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and platforms (SIEM, awareness training software, IDS, antivirus, encryption).
  • Experience supporting SNMP / Syslog and remote monitoring / management solutions.
  • Excellent scripting and automation skills to enhance system performance and workflow.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a strong focus on user satisfaction.
  • Proactive learner with the ability to escalate appropriately and solve problems efficiently.
  • Strong multitasking and project prioritization abilities; capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings / weekends and participate in the IT on-call rotation.
