We are seeking an IT Support Technician to join our support services team located in Victoria, BC. This position is on-site, full-time, Monday to Friday, with office hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Role Overview
Our IT Support Technician plays a vital role by offering assistance and support to users experiencing challenges or issues with their computer system and/or software to ensure our computer systems are running smoothly.
We are seeking a technician with strong relationship building skills, an aptitude for troubleshooting, and a willingness to adapt and train others on existing and upcoming software platforms and document management systems.
Customer Service:
- Establish positive relationships with all Woodward departments and colleagues.
- Move and set up workstations, including monitors, telephones docks, etc. pursuant to firm deployment standards.
- Respond to user inquiries in a timely manner regarding computer software or hardware operation.
- Assess, analyze, identify, troubleshoot, and as appropriate, escalate technology issues to be resolved.
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk.
- Provide in-person on-premises IT support and support for remote access users (internal and/or external) via telephone, email, or video chat.
Technical:
- Install, configure, test, maintain and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, and networked peripheral devices.
- Support and troubleshoot for IT infrastructure such as workstations, servers, network appliances, printers, photocopiers, mobile devices, VPNs, and related hardware and software in a Microsoft environment.
- Coach and train end-users to help expand their technical knowledge and skills of new and existing software and hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with the Director of IT and IS and external MSP on special projects.
- Adhere to IT policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain systems security and access.
- Maintain and update accurate records of existing IT knowledge base.
- Observe and adhere to approved technical standards including confidentiality, integrity and availability.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- College or other non-university certificate or diploma from a post-secondary program or equivalent in information technology, computer sciences, or relevant field.
- 3 to 5 years of proven work experience as IT Support or relevant experience, preferably in a legal industry environment.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and experience providing software and technical support for MS Windows.
- Fundamental understanding of the information technology industry and technology solutions including hardware, software, cyber security, licensing and services.
- Proven superior customer service, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with remote desktop applications and help desk systems and software.
- Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, written, verbal and in real time.
