Position Overview: The IT Support Technician is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and supporting hardware, software, and network connectivity at designated sites. This role involves daily equipment setup and shutdown, user support, login management, and ensuring secure handling of authentication devices and credentials. The technician will troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues, escalate as needed, and ensure smooth operation of all IT systems during operational hours.

Job dates: Training: October 3rd. Onsite: October 5th - October 11th

Salary: $30/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and test hardware, including laptops, wireless routers/modems, and authentication devices (e.g., Yubikeys).
  • Set up and verify system connectivity to internet service providers and internal applications.
  • Provide daily startup support, including powering up laptops and routers, verifying functionality, and assisting users with logins.
  • Manage distribution, collection, and secure storage of authentication devices and passcodes.
  • Offer on-site technical assistance for hardware, software, and application-related issues, escalating to higher-level support when required.
  • Monitor system performance throughout operational hours and ensure equipment remains functional and secure.
  • Perform daily shutdown of equipment, including proper power-down procedures and secure storage of devices.
  • Conduct teardown, inventory management, and return of IT equipment at the end of the assignment.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware (laptops, routers, authentication devices) and credentials before, during, and after deployment.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • On-site support role requiring travel to designated locations.
  • Early start times and end-of-day responsibilities required.
  • Physical ability to transport, set up, and secure IT equipment.
  • Proven experience in IT support, desktop support, or technical field services.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware setup and troubleshooting, including laptops, routers, and authentication devices.
  • Familiarity with user authentication tools (e.g., Yubikeys, multi-factor authentication).
  • Ability to manage multiple user accounts and support login/access processes.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including wireless connectivity and router setup.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills for equipment tracking, setup, and teardown.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for supporting end users.
  • Ability to work independently, with a focus on reliability and attention to detail.
